LEONARDTOWN, Md. – Last Thursday, the community gathered to honor the memory of Brice Trossbach, a dedicated firefighter who tragically lost his life in the line of duty on June 27, 2023. The wreath-laying ceremony marked the one-year anniversary of his passing and was held at the Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department (LVFD). The event drew hundreds of attendees, reflecting the profound impact Brice had on those around him.
Brice Trossbach, 25, had been a part of the LVFD family since childhood, often accompanying his father, Warren Trossbach, a life member of LVFD, to the station. At 16, Brice joined LVFD as a probationary member, progressing to a full member by the age of 18. His commitment to firefighting was evident in his service with both the Leonardtown and Bay District Volunteer Fire Departments.
The wreath-laying ceremony was a poignant moment, with members of the community, fellow firefighters, and Brice’s family paying their respects. This ceremony served as a testament to Brice’s dedication and the deep loss felt by those who knew him. A memorial bench at Leonardtown Wharf, designed and fabricated to honor Brice’s legacy, was also unveiled, providing a lasting tribute to his service and sacrifice.
Brice’s passing has left a significant void in the community, but his legacy lives on through the many lives he touched. As the community continues to mourn, they also celebrate the selfless service and dedication that Brice exemplified. “We ask the public to respect the Trossbach family’s privacy while they are grieving,” noted an LVFD spokesperson.
