
HELEN, Md. — In the early hours of Friday, September 27, 2024, a vehicle collision with a local establishment led to a swift emergency response and rescue operation in Helen, Maryland.
At approximately 12:15 a.m., emergency crews were dispatched to Hills Store Bar and Grill located at 29933 Point Lookout Road following reports of a vehicle that left the roadway crashing into the building. Upon arrival, responders found a single vehicle had collided with the side of the structure, leaving one occupant stranded in a second-floor apartment.
Fire and rescue personnel successfully extracted the trapped individual from the upper level of the building. Crews also took immediate action to secure utilities affected by the impact. Remarkably, no injuries were reported in the incident.
Following the rescue, emergency teams remained on site to assist the local building inspector in assessing the structural integrity of the damaged establishment.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by local authorities.
