Haitong International’s Jeff Pu, a reasonably accurate source of Apple-related information, is back with a new research note today, and it’s all about the iPhone 17 series coming next year, most likely in September.
Let’s start with what will be the shiny new member of the family, the iPhone 17 Slim (or iPhone 17 Air if Apple wants to use the same naming scheme it does for its tablets). This model has been ‘confirmed’ (as much as anything can be unofficially) to use the A19 chip (so not the A19 Pro like the Pro models), paired with 8GB of RAM (so support for Apple Intelligence will unsurprisingly be baked in).
iPhone 16 Plus, the last of its kind
The phone will have a single 48 MP rear camera, and a 24 MP selfie camera. It will have Face ID, an aluminum frame, and a 6.6-inch display. Pu says this model will have an entirely new design, and will replace the iPhone Plus model.
He also talked about the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. Both of these will get the same screen sizes as their predecessors’, the A19 Pro chip, 12GB of RAM, a 48 MP telephoto camera, a 24 MP selfie camera, and the Pro Max will also have a much narrower Dynamic Island, as a result of the handset using a new Face ID system.
