Incident At Southern Maryland Blue Crabs Stadium: Bouncy House Accident Leaves Children Injured, 2 Airlifted

WALDORF, Md. – An unfortunate incident occurred at the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs stadium at 11765 Linus Drive resulting in multiple injuries to children last night. A 911 caller reported that a bouncy house was lifted and flipped by a sudden gust of wind, causing children to fall approximately 15 feet onto the field.

Emergency services were dispatched immediately. Two medical helicopters were requested due to the severity of the injuries. One child, in critical condition, was flown to Children’s National Hospital by Trooper 2. Another child, also in critical but non-life-threatening condition, was transported to the same hospital by Trooper 7. Other injured children received on-site treatment from EMS.

The incident occurred during an event at the stadium. By the time our stringer arrived, the lights were off, and three staff members present declined to comment. The incident reportedly happened around 9:30 p.m., with first responders arriving shortly after.

An athlete on the field during the incident, who requested anonymity, provided a statement:

“A gust of wind did take the bouncy house and ripped the stakes out and blew it onto the field. I think there were two kids inside; we haven’t been told how they are yet. We all saw it—everyone that was there.”

The athlete noted that the medevac helicopter had already departed by 11:15 p.m. when he spoke with us.

We are currently seeking further information and will provide updates as they become available. Our thoughts are with the injured children and their families during this difficult time.
