And while the comment seemingly about Hugh’s IRL love life was enough to raise fans’ eyebrows, it certainly wasn’t the only poke at the actors’ real lives—and breakups. Indeed, Jennifer Garner who played Elektra opposite Ben Affleck’s Daredevil in the 2003 movie of the same name, makes a cameo and appears to make a subtle jab at her ex husband.
When Jennifer—with whom she shares kids Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12 with Ben—makes her appearance, she tells Deadpool that Daredevil had died.
The devastating news is delivered casually from Elektra, who notes, “It’s fine.”
Obviously, the joke was all in good fun, as Jennifer has emphasized before how well she and Ben have been able to transition from a couple to co-parents.
“It’s not Ben’s job to make me happy,” Jennifer explained to Vanity Fair in 2016 shortly after the former couple, who finalized their divorced in 2018, separated. “The main thing is these kids—and we’re completely in line with what we hope for them.”
