Hit-And-Run Crash Claims Life Of Anne Arundel County Man

LAUREL, Md. — In the early hours of July 21, 2024, at approximately 3:40 a.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to the intersection of Laurel Fort Meade Road and the access road to Delta Bingo in the 3600 block for a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian.

The victim, identified as 34-year-old Devin Michael Jones of Laurel, Maryland, was transported to Howard General Hospital. Despite the efforts of medical staff, Jones was pronounced deceased shortly after his arrival.

Evidence gathered at the scene suggests that an unidentified vehicle turned right from eastbound Laurel Fort Meade Road onto an unnamed roadway situated between 3607 and 3601 Laurel Fort Meade Road. The vehicle then fled the scene in an unknown direction. Investigators believe the vehicle likely sustained damage to its undercarriage and front bumper area.

The vehicle involved in this tragic incident remains unidentified. Anyone with information that could assist in identifying the vehicle or its driver is encouraged to reach out to the authorities.

The Traffic Safety Section of the Anne Arundel County Police Department is actively investigating the incident. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the crash or those who were in the vicinity at the time to come forward.
