Heavy Rainfall Expected: Flood Watch Issued For Southern Maryland

CALIFORNIA, Md. – The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch that is in effect from 2 am Friday through Friday evening. 

Multiple rounds of heavy showers and thunderstorms will move across the area starting late tonight and continuing through Friday evening. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are expected, with isolated higher amounts possible.

Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. Portions of southern Maryland, including the following areas: Calvert, Charles, and St. Marys, and central Virginia, including King George.

Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded.
