Green Certification What It Means to the Maryland Recycling Community

This webinar, held August 23, 2012, explored the meaning and value of Green Certification for the Maryland recycling community. The presenters shared three very different perspectives to ensure a broad understanding of the concept and its potential impact on the waste stream. Program Description: The sustainable product industry is at a crossroad. Consumers are demanding sustainable products and services, and manufacturers are responding with self-declared environmental claims, graphics or imagery.

Tad Radzinski explained why companies choose to get certified, their experience going through the process and how it can improve their bottom line.

Doug Weisburger outlineed the scope and benefits of Montgomery County’s Green Business Certification Program, a voluntary recognition program for businesses going above and beyond basic green office measures.

Laura Armstrong described the Maryland Green Registry, a free program that promotes and recognizes sustainable practices at organizations of all types and sizes within the State. She also detailed the benefits of membership and how to add your business or organization to the growing list of 350 members.
