HOLLYWOOD, Md. – On June 18, 2024, a 17-year-old named Kody was severely injured after being struck by a vehicle on Vista Road near Whiskey Creek Road. Now, a GoFundMe page has been created to help his family with the unexpected medical expenses.
According to the GoFundMe page, Kody, who is a student-athlete, was struck by a vehicle while out on a run.
“Despite safely moving to the side of the road, a driver hit him, causing him to flip over the car,” as stated on the GoFundMe page.
Kody sustained multiple injuries including a large wound on his elbow, a torn tricep, a fractured elbow, and extensive scrapes and bruising. According to the updates on the fundraiser’s page, Kody has undergone two surgeries already.
“Great news!!!! Kody’s surgery went well and the doctors believe he won’t need any more surgeries. He should be coming home TODAY,” states an update posted on June 22, 2024. “He is doing so much better than expected and we have all your prayers, the staff at the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center, and everyone who helped him get there to thank for that. Now he can begin to heal and recover. I’m sure it will start off with the longest nap of his life!”
The GoFundMe page also noted that this should serve as a good reminder to share the road and be aware of your surroundings.
