Fatal Crash Under Investigation In Prince George's County

LANHAM, Md. – Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred early yesterday morning in Prince George’s County. 

The driver and sole occupant of a silver Nissan Altima involved in the crash, identified as Jason Jamal Harris, 38, of Temple Hills, Maryland, was pronounced deceased on the scene. No other injuries were reported at the scene. 

Shortly before 2 a.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police College Park Barrack responded to the area of westbound Route 50 in the area of the ramp to southbound Interstate 495, for a report of a single motor vehicle crash.

According to the preliminary investigation, the Nissan, operated by Harris, was traveling west on Route 50 when for unknown reasons, lost control and collided with the concrete traffic barrier on the left shoulder of the highway.  

The left lane was closed for more than an hour for the crash investigation. The Maryland State Police College Park Barrack is leading the investigation. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
