LA PLATA, Md. – A late-night crash in La Plata has resulted in multiple charges for a Waldorf woman and injuries to four young passengers. The incident occurred on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at approximately 10:05 p.m., near the intersection of Maryland Route 6 and Kentucky Avenue.
Crews arrived on the scene to find the Honda off the roadway down an embankment approximately 100 yards. EMS evaluated four children on the scene and requested a MEDEVAC for a two-year-old passenger.
The Maryland State Police, Trooper 2 airlifted the two-year-old patient to Children’s National Hospital, while two 7-year-olds and one 9-year-old were also transported by ambulance to the same facility.
The operator of the vehicle, Danielle Lavon Baker, 29, faces several charges, including driving under the influence while transporting a minor, reckless driving, and failure to secure a child under 8 in a safety seat.
Authorities have not disclosed the relationship between Baker and the children.
The crash remains under investigation by the Maryland State Police.
