Driver Hydroplanes During Storm, Crashes Into Utility Pole In St. Mary's City

ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. – On June 26, 2024, at approximately 10:09 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a motor vehicle accident on Point Lookout Road in the area of Bauer Road.  

Upon arrival, crews found a vehicle off the roadway that crashed into a utility pole. The driver, who was unharmed, reported to authorities that he hydroplaned, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. 

SMECO was called to the scene to carry out necessary repairs to the damaged utility pole.
