Dorothy Christine Morgan – The BayNet


Dorothy Christine Morgan, 85, of Mechanicsville, MD, peacefully passed away on June 8, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. On May 3, 1939, Dorothy was born to Solomon and Carrie Copsey in Chaptico, MD.

Dorothy was a tobacco farmer for over 30 years before retiring to focus on being a homemaker for her family.

On August 15, 1956, Dorothy was married to the love of her life, Norvel Morgan, Sr. The two were blessed with three sons, David Morgan of Mechanicsville, MD, Lawrence Morgan (Paula) of Mechanicsville, MD, and Norvel Morgan, Jr., who predeceased his mother.

During her free time, she found pleasure in reading, cooking, studying the Bible, farming, and gardening. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family. Whether gathered around the dinner table sharing a meal she lovingly prepared, or working together in the garden, her family moments were filled with laughter, stories, and a sense of togetherness that warmed her heart.

Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband, parents, son, brothers Clements Copsey, Clyde Copsey, Lawrence Copsey, Elmer Buckler, and granddaughter Brittany Morgan. She is survived by her children, brothers Oscar Buckler of Mechanicsville, MD, Robert Buckler of Mechanicsville, MD, sister Jeannie Ford of California, MD, grandchildren Heather Tyer, Justin Tyer, Brenda Morgan, Brett Morgan, and great-grandchildren Justin Tyer, Jr., Ezra Tyer, Bryton Morgan, Bowen Morgan, Brooklyn Morgan, Naomi Morgan, and Jaxson Houser.

The family will receive friends for the visitation on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm with prayers at 7:00 pm at Brinsfield Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A mass officiated by Father Michael Tietjen will be held the following day on the 14th at 11:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 28297 Old Village Road, Mechanicsville, MD 20659. Interment will be held at a later date.
