STEWART: IT IS BACK TO THE BARGAINING TABLE HERE IN FLORIDA. WAGE NEGOTIATIONS ARE SET TO TAKE PLACE NEXT WEEK BETWEEN DISNEY AND SIX UNIONS REPRESENTING THOUSANDS OF CAST MEMBERS. WESH 2’S MEGAN MELLADO SPOKE WITH A UNION PRESIDENT WHO SAYS MEMBERS ARE JUST TRYING TO KEEP UP WITH THE COST OF LIVING. >> THE SERVICE TRADES COUNCIL UNION HELD A RALLY THURSDAY WHERE THEY HELD SIGNS THAT READ DISNEY WORKERS NEED A RAISE AND MAGIC DOESN’T PAY THE BILLS. UNION PRESIDENT MATT HOLLIS SAYS THE EVENT WAS TO REMIND THE COMPANY OF THEIR PRIORITIES, A MEANINGFUL RAISE IN A TIMELY MANNER AHEAD OF NEXT WEEKS NEGOTIATIONS. >> THE COST OF LIVING IN CENTRAL FLORIDA IS SKYROCKETING, INFLATION IS IMPACTING EVERYONE. RENT INCREASES ARE REAL AND SO THAT’S SOMETHING THAT UNITES THEM. AND SO THAT IS ONE OF THE BARGAINING PRIORITIES WE’VE HAD FOR THIS ENTIRE ROUND OF BARGAINING IS THAT CAST MEMBERS NEED TO SEE A MEANINGFUL RAISE AND THEY NEED TO SEE IT NOW, NOT JUST OVER THE LIFE OF THE CONTRACT. >> HE SAYS THE UNION REPRESENTS ABOUT 43,000 WORKERS WHO ARE HOPEFUL THEY’LL SEE A PROPOSAL THAT ADDRESSES THEIR PRIORITIES, INCLUDING AND $18 PER HOUR MINIMUM. >> DISNEY WORKERS ARE THE MOST INCREDIBLE WORKFORCE OUT THERE. THEY ABSOLUTELY LOVE WHAT THEY DO. THEY MAKE MEMORIES AND THEY MAKE MAGIC, AS THEY CALL IT, FOR THOUSANDS OF FAMILIES. THEY LOVE WHAT THEY DO. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is on track to debut next year at Disney.Construction has been underway on the new attraction.Fans can expect to follow The Princess and the Frog characters on a journey in the bayou.Carmen Smith of Walt Disney Imagineering wrote on Disney Parks Blog, “The story will pick up where the film left off as guests join Princess Tiana and jazz-loving alligator Louis on an adventure down the bayou as they prepare to host a one-of-a-kind celebration during Mardi Gras season where everyone is welcome.”Smith went on to say that the Walt Disney Imagineering team went to New Orleans for inspiration regarding the theme, music and other elements they plan to incorporate in Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.In 2024, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is set to come to the Walt Disney World Resort.
