Details Released: Hollywod Man Arrested After Pointing Shotgun At Coworkers Outside Ledo’s Pizza

LEONARDTOWN, Md. – Carl Zimmerman, a resident of Hollywood, Maryland, was arrested and charged with multiple counts of first-degree and second-degree assault following an incident at Ledo’s Pizza in Leonardtown, St. Mary’s County.

According to the statement of probable cause, the events unfolded on the night of July 24, 2024 around 9:45 PM as Zimmerman and other employees were leaving the restaurant through the back door after their shift.

According to court documents, the victims reported that Zimmerman, who was seated in his vehicle, rolled down his window, pointed a firearm at them, and uttered the word “Boom.” The victims described the firearm as larger than a typical pistol, with a long barrel and partially black with a lighter coloration. They immediately reported the incident to the business owner, who notified law enforcement.

Upon receiving the report, officers conducted an investigation and obtained information about Zimmerman, including his name, address, and date of birth, from the store manager. The officers then proceeded to Zimmerman’s residence in Hollywood, Maryland. He was identified by both his Facebook photograph and Maryland driver’s license.

When officers arrived at his residence, Zimmerman stepped outside and admitted to owning a firearm, which he identified as a 12-gauge shotgun. He further explained that he had wanted to show the firearm to someone at work

During the interaction with law enforcement, the defendant reenacted the incident by mimicking the action of holding the firearm and stating “Pow Pow,” consistent with the victims’ statements. Officers were granted permission to enter Zimmerman’s residence, where they located the firearm against a wall, matching the description provided by the victims.

Zimmerman was subsequently arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including five counts of first-degree assault and three counts of second-degree assault, each classified as a felony, and three counts of second-degree assault, each classified as a misdemeanor.

The court records indicate that Zimmerman was held without bond following his arrest and that bail review was held on July 26, 2024, where the decision to hold him without bond was upheld.

He waived his right to an attorney at his initial appearance and is currently awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for August 22, 2024, at the St. Mary’s District Court.
