Deals: Galaxy S24 FE and S24 Ultra, new wearables

Amazon’s Prime Day deals spanned two days earlier this week, but all that is now behind us. This doesn’t mean that there aren’t any good deals to be had, however. In fact, we spotted some new offers that weren’t available on Prime Day.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is still too new for straight discounts, but both the 128GB and 256GB versions are available with a free $100 Amazon Gift Card in tow. You can use it to buy some accessories – a case, a new smartwatch, etc. – or to get something completely unrelated.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra was down under $1,000 for a 256GB unit during Prime Day. The current offer isn’t that good but is still good enough to mention. The 512GB variant in particular is over $400 off.

There were no discounts on the S24+, but the small Galaxy S24 did get a small discount.

You can use that $100 gift card from the Galaxy S24 FE to pick up a new watch – the Samsung Galaxy Watch FE is down to $180 or just $80 once you apply the card. Note that this is for the Bluetooth variant, Samsung recently added an LTE version as well (but both are 40mm only).

If you want a larger, more capable watch, the Samsung Galaxy Watch7 brings a faster, more efficient 3nm Exynos W1000 chipset, a larger display (1.5” vs. 1.2”) since it’s the 44mm model and longer battery life. Both watches have ECG, but only the Watch7 has a blood pressure monitor.

For an adventure watch, there’s the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra. This one can dive deeper (it’s certified for 100m) and has an even larger battery. The Ultra is available in only one configuration – 47mm with LTE.

Samsung just announced the A16 5G, but the older Samsung Galaxy A15 5G is still around and it is cheaper too. Not that we know the A16 pricing yet, but judging by the price tag in the EU, it will be $250. The A15 5G will receive 4 OS updates and 5 years of security patches, so this sub-$200 device can last you a long time. The Dimensity 6100+ is weaker than the new chipset inside the A16, but that one is no speed demon either.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024) has proven to be a successful design, this is its second re-release. And it’s currently 40% off. Note that both the 64GB and 128GB versions have only 4GB of RAM, so you might be better off spending the extra $50 on a microSD card instead of just 64GB more internal storage.

The Oura Ring 4 was announced earlier this month with a titanium exterior and epoxy interior. The sensor suite has been slimmed down significantly since Gen 3 (from 1.3mm to 0.3mm) and the accuracy has been greatly improved (the blood oxygen sensor is 120% better). Note that you need a subscription that is $6/month or $70/year.

Alternatively, you can pick up the Samsung Galaxy Ring, which costs a bit more upfront, but doesn’t need a subscription. We found it to be comfortable and battery life is longer than what you get from Galaxy Watches. However, you also get none of the notifications and other smart features from the Watches. The good news is that the Galaxy Watch and Ring have been designed to coexist – you can wear the watch during the day and the ring at night, for example.

Here are some more wearables – Sony recently unveiled new TWS buds in the LinkBuds series. The LinkBuds Open have an open design, which makes them more comfortable for all-day wear and they don’t block ambient sound. The LinkBuds Fit are a more traditional design with a focus on comfort, audio quality and noise cancellation. There’s also a Bluetooth speaker, which can seamlessly resume playback when you get home and put away the buds.

We may get a commission from qualifying sales.
