After taxes, Tammy and Cliff Webster, of Oneida, Wisconsin, are walking away with $153.9 million.The two split the $632 million Powerball jackpot with another winner in Sacramento, California.”I got up, I was getting ready for work. I had my coffee, watched the 4:30 news. The news said they had two winners. I felt all sad and they said they had one in California, one in Wisconsin,” Tammy said.”You know, how many people play in Wisconsin? What’s the odds of us winning? I got my number out and started looking at it. I noticed my second number matched, there were some numbers that matched and I couldn’t believe it like, ‘This cannot be the Powerball,'” Cliff said. “I couldn’t believe it. I just sat there staring at it. And she was in the recliner. And she’s looking at me and I don’t tell her that we won and I couldn’t believe it. It’s unbelievable. You don’t know what to do!”The Wisconsin Lottery released a video Monday morning identifying them. Wisconsin law requires lottery winners be identified publicly, but they can choose not to do a news conference.”We’re hugging and yelling, and it was one of the happiest moments of my life,” Cliff said.”We are very happy about this and I want to thank grandfather, to Creator God, for giving us this great gift. Anybody could win. Just be thankful for what you have and be happy and maybe good things will come because it came for us,” Tammy said.The winners opted to take the cash option of $225.1 million. They paid $54 million in federal taxes and $17.2 million in state taxes.The jackpot was the seventh-largest in Powerball history.”We are sincerely grateful for this incredible event,” Tammy said. “We always believed that we had a chance to win if we played and this is a dream come true.”Cliff agreed and expressed his deep appreciation for what he called “a blessing.””This is a wonderful blessing, and we are incredibly thankful and most appreciative of this opportunity,” he added. “I could not be more thrilled for the Websters! It was very exciting to celebrate their win with them,” Wisconsin Lottery Director Cindy Polzin said. “It’s incredible that we get to keep celebrating big wins in our state. This is the fourth major jackpot won in the past four years in WINsconsin,” referring to three Powerball jackpots and one Mega Millions won in Wisconsin since March 2019.The gas station where the couple bought the ticket will receive $100,000.”My heart is racing. I have goosebumps all over. It’s just really great for our store, for our community here,” general manager Mary Willems said after learning of the win.Wisconsin has had 19 Powerball jackpot wins since the game debuted in 1992. The 19 wins put Wisconsin fourth on the list of most frequently winning Powerball states.In March 2019, Wisconsin had a record-setting $768.4 million jackpot winner with a ticket sold at a Speedway in New Berlin. The winning ticket was the second-largest Powerball jackpot in U.S. lottery history and fourth-largest all-time lottery jackpot.
