LUSBY, Md. – On July 16, members of the Calvert County Chapter of Quilts of Valor presented a patriotic quilt to Dr. Brandon Temple, Chairman of the Calvert County Veterans Affairs Commission, for his service to the country and our county.

A Quilt of Valor consists of three layers. The many-colored top represents the communities and the many individuals that comprise them. The batting in the center signifies the warmth and comfort the quilt provides. The backing is the strength of the recipient, the support of their family and the gratitude of a nation that lives free. Finally, the binding that surrounds the quilt on all sides represents the sincere hope that the recipient will feel surrounded by love and honor.

On behalf of the Veterans Affairs Commission, Dr. Temple presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Quilts of Valor for serving Calvert’s Veterans by covering Service Members and Veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.
