PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) designated June 2024 as National Homeownership Month.

National Homeownership Month reminds us of the value of homeownership, which is the foundation for economic well-being and intergenerational wealth-building. This month provides an opportunity to reaffirm the BOCC’s support for homeowners and commitment to removing barriers and expanding access to affordable housing.

The BOCC is mindful of the current challenges facing the housing market, including an inventory crisis and exorbitant housing costs, which require concerted efforts to address. Whether one owns or rents, having a place to call home is essential for living with dignity and nurturing our families.

Citizens are invited to express their gratitude and support for the Southern Maryland Association of Realtors and join the effort to work tirelessly to enhance accessibility to housing and address the challenges faced by aspiring homeowners in Calvert County.
