MECHANICSVILLE, Md. – A complex web of betrayal has been uncovered in St. Mary’s County, resulting in the arrest of Roger Glenn Chin, Alexander Wade Foote, and Tavares Antonio Thompson, known as “Block.” The trio is accused of orchestrating a burglary on June 23, 2024, in which they stole a Stihl chainsaw, leaf blower, and other equipment from a Mechanicsville homeowner’s property.
Court documents reveal that Chin, who had recently been expelled from the victim’s home due to his use of controlled dangerous substances (CDS), leveraged his familiarity with the property to carry out the theft. Just days before the incident, Chin had requested to borrow the very equipment that was later stolen, under the pretense of needing it for a side job—a request that was denied by the victim.
On the day of the theft, Shelby Lynn Mikula, who later became a cooperating witness, drove Chin, Foote, and Thompson to the victim’s residence in her 2017 Ford Fusion. After successfully stealing the items, the group attempted to sell them at a WaWa gas station in La Plata. However, when the sale failed, Chin took control of the vehicle and drove the group to Baltimore, where they finally managed to offload the stolen goods.
The proceeds from the sale were intended to purchase gasoline and crack cocaine, further highlighting the depth of the group’s criminal activities. The investigation, led by the Maryland State Police, was bolstered by digital evidence provided by the victim, including Facebook Messenger conversations where he confronted the suspects about the theft. These messages, along with Mikula’s testimony, played a critical role in piecing together the events of that night.
Chin, Foote, and Thompson are currently in custody, facing multiple felony charges, including burglary and theft. They are being held without bail as they await their court date, scheduled for September 20, 2024. If convicted, they could face significant prison sentences due to the severity of their crimes.
The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities pursuing additional leads to uncover the full extent of the criminal network.
