The good news is that you’ve got options at a variety of price points via Best Buy, Amazon, and beyond, whether you’re looking for an everyday workhorse, a cheap Chromebook for homework, a 2-in-1 Windows PC for drawing, or a powerful premium gaming laptop.

Asus’s ultra-portable Chromebook CM30 Detachable is one of two new non-Plus Chromebooks announced by Google last month. Best Buy has it on sale for $40 off, which is its first discount since launch.

It’s a 10.5-inch laptop/tablet hybrid that comes with a removable keyboard (hence its name), a built-in stand, a stylus, and 5MP cameras on the front and back. This particular model also features a MediaTek Kompanio 520 CPU, 4GB of memory, and 64GB of eMMC storage, which is about as basic as it gets. Still, with the included accessories, it’s a pretty good value for casual users who frequently work on the go.

The HP Chromebook Plus x360 14c is a 14-inch ChromeOS convertible that supports Gemini AI features like “Help me write,” generative wallpapers, and Google Photos’ Magic Editor. Its dim display and noisy, low-res webcam didn’t impress Mashable tech editor Kim Gedeon when she tried it earlier this year, but “its robust aluminum chassis, flexible postures (e.g., tablet and tent modes), wide range of ports, and fantastic keyboard may leave you hooked,” she said. (It walked away with a 4/5 rating.)

The configuration with a 12th-gen Intel Core i3 CPU, 8GB of memory, and 128GB of SSD storage is marked down to just $499.99 on HP’s website, which is a 36% savings and $30 cheaper than its sale price two weeks ago.

The 13-inch version of Apple’s previous-gen MacBook Air won a Mashable Choice Award upon release in mid-2022, with tech and games reporter Alex Perry praising its peppy M2 processor, superb battery life, satisfying keyboard, and lightweight frame. A $170 discount at Amazon has scooted it down to a new record low of $829, which is budget laptop territory as far as MacBooks are concerned.

If you think you’ll benefit from a tad more speed, extra screen real estate, support for WiFi 6E, and/or simultaneous support for two external displays, the newer 15-inch M3 MacBook Air is also on sale at an all-time low price on Amazon. The base configuration usually retails for $1,299, but you’ll pay $1,129 — another $170 in savings.
