‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ trailer: Winona Ryder says those three damned words

Say it once, shame on you. Say it twice, shame on me. Say it three times, we’re all screwed.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is almost upon us, and Warner Bros. dropped a new trailer to chase the first look we got in May.

With Tim Burton back in the director’s chair, stars Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara are all heading back to Winter River for the sequel to 1988’s Beetlejuice. They’re joined by the likes of Willem Dafoe, Jenna Ortega, Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, and Arthur Conti. Plus, Wednesday‘s Alfred Gough and Miles Millar wrote the screenplay, so it’s bound to be a spooky time.

So, what’s in store for the sequel? Ryder’s Lydia Deetz is all grown up and still living with the events of 30 years ago — with the same awesome fashion sense. Her daughter Astrid, played by Ortega (honestly the dream mother-daughter casting!?) doesn’t believe in the ghostly family history. However, in the old Deetz house, Astrid finds the model of the town Adam Maitland made in the first film and the portal to the afterlife we left Beetlejuice languishing in finds its way open.

And for some reason Lydia says the three damned words! It must be bad if she needs Beetlejuice’s help. And we’d be mad if Ortega and O’Hara didn’t tease a choreographed dance in the trailer. We do love an Ortega dance.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice hits cinemas Sept. 6 in North America, and internationally beginning Sept. 4.
