Commissioner: 23-year-old man arrested in Texas while trying to flee country

Baltimore police on Monday announced an arrest in the fatal shooting of a teenager.Izaiah Carter, 16, was shot on March 6 in the Joseph Lee Playfields area near Patterson High school, where he was student.| RELATED: Patterson High School student killed in park near schoolBaltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison said authorities in Texas helped to apprehend Roger Alvarado-Mendoza, 23, before he tried to flee the country. He was previously arrested in Baltimore in 2018 and he was previously arrested in Florida, Harrison said.The commissioner said a motive remains unknown, and Alvarado-Mendoza is not a student at the school.A GoFundMe page has been set up to help support the family with funeral expenses.Anyone with information is asked to call police at 410-396-2100 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 866-7LOCKUP. Baltimore police on Monday announced an arrest in the fatal shooting of a teenager.

Izaiah Carter, 16, was shot on March 6 in the Joseph Lee Playfields area near Patterson High school, where he was student.

Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison said authorities in Texas helped to apprehend Roger Alvarado-Mendoza, 23, before he tried to flee the country. He was previously arrested in Baltimore in 2018 and he was previously arrested in Florida, Harrison said.

The commissioner said a motive remains unknown, and Alvarado-Mendoza is not a student at the school.
