Annapolis Man Arrested After Pointing Shotgun At Speeding Motorist

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Wayne Scott Williams, a 66-year-old Annapolis man, was arrested on Thursday morning, August 8, 2024, following complaints about a man brandishing a shotgun on Bembe Beach Road.

Williams, reportedly upset about the issue of speeding in the neighborhood, allegedly pointed the shotgun at a passing motorist. Officers from the Annapolis Police Department promptly arrived on the scene and took Williams into custody without incident.

Williams faces multiple charges, including first-degree assault, second-degree assault, firearm use in a felony-violent crime, and reckless endangerment. He was released on recognizance the same day.

Captain Justin Klinedinst, Annapolis Police Patrol Commander, remarked, “The Department has received numerous complaints over the past few years about speeding. Each complaint has been addressed through visible enforcement and/or variable message signs. We remind the public to allow the police to address their concerns and not take matters into their own hands.”

Further updates will be provided as they become available.
