Allison Fellner Pauole – The BayNet

It is with incredibly heavy, but grateful hearts that we announce the passing of Allison Fellner Pauole, our dear “Alli Cat”. Alli passed away peacefully on September 5, 2024, after the most courageous and graceful fight with cancer this world has ever seen. We are so grateful for the time we got to spend with her here on earth but no amount of time would have been enough.

Allison Marie Fellner was born on September 19, 1978, at Sibley Hospital in Washington DC, and was the youngest of three daughters to Dan Willard Fellner and Mary Jo (Zaletsky) Fellner.

Alli is survived by her devoted husband, Richard Kalihi Pauole, son Gable Kalihi, and daughters Alani Rae and Makena Malia. Alli also leaves behind her heartbroken parents, Dan and Mary Jo Fellner, and her adoring sisters Tami Fellner (Steve, nieces Dani, and Ryan) and Joey Harris (Tommy, nephew Will, niece Kinley). She will be greatly missed by her Aunt Susan and Uncle Eulo Regala, cousin Eulo Regala Jr. and his family. The Pauole side of Alli’s family believes she was one of their greatest treasures and will continue to love and miss her for as long as the Pauole Ohana exists. ‘A hui hou me ke aloha.

Growing up in Southern Maryland, the granddaughter of the late “Fireball Joe” and Mary Zaletsky, Allison was known by everyone. She practically lived on the water and loved every moment out on the boats. She was equally as happy with her toes in the sand and a drink in her hand. Alli went on the racing circuit with her dad the summer after college with Formula Race boats traveling around the country and driving the freight liner towing race boats! She was dragged around to her older sisters’ and cousins’ games and events, but took the spotlight for herself as a Skyhawks cheerleader during her younger years. She moved on to playing volleyball and then to competitive weightlifting at McDonough High School where she graduated in 1996.

Alli began her college career at The College of Southern Maryland then transferred to Frostburg State University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology in 2000. She later earned her certification as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer. She was employed as an Echo Technologist at Civista Hospital in LaPlata, Maryland, and was eventually promoted to Lead Echo Tech of the department. Through the years, Allison also worked for Dr. Koliah and Dr. Benjers in the southern Maryland area. Her care and kindness with both patients and staff were the hallmarks of Alli’s professional career.

Alli first met the love of her life at J.C. Parks Elementary School. They reconnected one fateful night at the FOP after both had graduated from college. Alli and Rich were married in a private intimate ceremony 20 years ago on the island of Kauai, Hawaii on July 28, 2004, and then returned home to later celebrate with friends and family.

Alli and Rich welcomed their first child, Gable Kalihi, on April 29, 2007. The twin “ladybugs”, Makena and Alani, graced us with their presence on July 12, 2010. Allison, Rich, and their children built a home full of love and laughter where everyone felt welcome.

Alli welcomed any occasion to get together and celebrate with her close friends, of which there are many. She loved each of you fiercely! She loved any reason to dress up and be silly. Alli was everyone’s biggest cheerleader, from sports to concerts to academics, and would often make you feel extra special with a homemade sign or banner. Alli was incredibly thoughtful with every card and gift that she gave.

Allison’s brother-in-law, Steve, captures her essence with his words:

“She was an angel of kindness and strength that made every soul she touched brighter. It is truly inspiring how she faced her battle with cancer while still bringing joy to others and caring for her family. The strength and resilience she went through and showed for over a decade fighting the beast of cancer was parallel to none, but that was only a small part of her strength. She had the ability to make anyone smile, and she smiled herself while fighting. She fought to raise her family while not knowing her time left with them. She fought for others who had needed guidance while still fighting for hers. Fighting cancer is tough, but the strength Alli demonstrated is truly remarkable. Now, lay in peace Alli Cat. Let us continue your fight for you. Your legacy WILL live on through all of us.”

A Celebration of Life will be held in memory of Allison at the Mechanicsville Moose Lodge located at 27636 Mechanicsville, MD on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 12-5 pm. All who loved and adored her are welcome and asked to dress in comfortable attire. Lunch will be provided followed by a tribute to our beloved Allison.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lungevity.org.
