John William Grubb, Jr., 79, of Mechanicsville, MD, passed away peacefully on
September 4, 2024. John was born on August 18, 1945, in West Virginia to John
William Grubb, Sr. and Nellie Margarett Cox.
He was a structural ironworker and welder for 38 years, belonging to the Ironworkers
Local 5. He worked hard his entire life to give his family what they needed. In his
younger days, he coached Little League and loved to take the family camping. In
retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, living at the beach, bowling,
fishing, watching crime dramas on TV, reading, cooking, and going to yard sales. He
loved his family, neighbors, and friends. John will be dearly missed.
John is survived by his daughters Kelly Holland (Mark) of Charlotte Hall, MD and Caren
Drinkard (Dennis) of Mechanicsville, MD, and his son, John Michael Grubb of
Nanjemoy, MD. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Cory and Katie Holland, Cody
and Madison Grubb, and Cole, Trent, and Dean Drinkard. He is preceded in death by
his parents and his sister, Elizabeth Caslow of Oakland, MD.
A celebration of life will take place on September 11, 2024, at Brinsfield Funeral Home,
P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD from 5:00PM to 8:00PM with prayer
services beginning at 7:00PM.
