ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. – Celebrate the St. Mary’s River at the 17th annual RiverFest! Join us on Saturday, September 28th, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Historic St. Mary’s City —rain or shine, FREE ADMISSION! Don’t miss the ceremonial river wade‐ in in honor of Bernie Fowler at 2 pm, step aboard the Maryland Dove and the Pride of Baltimore II for a tour, or learn about the life of a waterman with oyster tonging demonstrations!
For our nature lovers, Raptor’s Eye will bring their live birds of prey, and Chad Day will show off his talented Chesapeake Bay Retrievers at 12 pm, 1 pm, and 2:30 pm on the State House lawn. Get up close with snakes, terrapins, and other native critters at our live animal displays, or try kayaking and fish seining with experienced experts at the waterfront.
Bring the family to enjoy balloon animals, crafts and other hands‐on activities. Enjoy lunch from Linda’s On‐the‐Go and stop by and see over 25 of Southern Maryland’s finest vendors and exhibitors along the path from the pavilion to the State House.
Discover 101 ways to protect and enjoy our waterways! Join the University of Maryland Extension office at 1 pm in the State House to learn about collecting stormwater with rain barrels! Make your own Secchi Disk with St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s Biology Department under the pavilion or join the pollinator race with ECOBAY Landscape & Design on the State House Lawn. Learn about the electric boat future at the Dove Dock with Little Debbie, a vintage classic runabout outfitted with an electric engine.
Live music will keep the energy high all day, featuring performances by local talents like David Norris, Billy Breslin, the Chesapeake Public Charter School Fourth Grade choir, and Indian Summer.
Explore our river’s past with free admission to Historic St. Mary’s City Museum and their living history exhibits. Experience the sights, sounds, and smells of a 17th‐century militia assembly as re‐enactors prepare to defend the colony against Virginians and pirates during the St. Maries Citty Militia’s annual muster in conjunction with RiverFest.
