WALDORF, Md. – On August 28, 2024, Damon Clyburn Glenn, a 43-year-old resident of Waldorf, Maryland, was arrested following a domestic incident that escalated to charges of first-degree assault. According to the official report, the incident began early in the morning when officers responded to a call at Glenn’s residence after receiving a report of an assault involving a firearm.
The victim, who had been living with Glenn, informed officers that the two had been arguing and that Glenn had been consuming alcohol throughout the morning. The argument turned physical when Clyburn began choking the victim with one hand while attempting to grab her purse with the other. The victim managed to escape momentarily and retreated to her room to gather her belongings. It was then that Clyburn allegedly grabbed a black long-gun, resembling an AR-15, and threatened to kill her. The victim was able to flee the apartment and contact the authorities.
When officers arrived and announced their presence at the apartment, Glenn initially refused to come to the door or answer any questions. For several minutes, he remained inside, during which time officers overheard him on the phone, admitting to having brandished a firearm during the altercation. Eventually, after approximately 20 minutes, Clyburn exited the apartment and was taken into custody without further incident.
During the transport to the Charles County Detention Center, Glenn reportedly made an unsolicited remark, expressing relief that he had consumed alcohol before the police arrived. Glenn has been charged with first-degree assault, a serious offense under Maryland law, which carries a potential penalty of up to 25 years in prison.
