MECHANICSVILLE, Md. – On August 19, 2024, at approximately 5:55 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a severe motor vehicle accident on New Market Turner Road near Livingston Drive.
Upon arrival, first responders discovered a head-on collision involving two vehicles, with two occupants injured. One of the occupants, who was severely injured, was pinned and trapped inside their vehicle. Due to the seriousness of the injuries, a MEDEVAC was immediately requested.
Firefighters worked quickly to extricate the trapped occupant, while EMS personnel initiated CPR on the scene and confirmed the occupant was deceased a short time later.
The State Highway Administration was also called to assist with fluid cleanup on the roadway.
Expect an extended road closure in the area.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
