MM 8.19: Former Maryland football rookies show out in NFL preseason

Former Maryland football stars Jeshaun Jones and Beau Brade both had standout performances in their second career NFL preseason games Saturday.

Brade led the Ravens in tackles with eight, contributing to a 13-12 win over the Falcons. He also nearly came away with an interception, but the pass was ruled incomplete after review.

For Jones, he took a pass from Vikings’ quarterback Jaren Hall on a corner route 71 yards for a touchdown. That was his only catch of the game and put the final touches on a 27-12 win over the Browns.

Both rookies went undrafted before signing with their respective teams shortly after the 2024 NFL Draft. Each has a chance to make a 53-man roster this season, but both Brade and Jones have generated buzz as potential dark horses.
