Woman Rescued After Jumping From Thomas Johnson Bridge, CPR In Progress

Thomas Johnson Bridge

SOLOMONS, Md. – Around 3:30 p.m. today, August 12, 2024, a woman reportedly attempted suicide by jumping from the Thomas Johnson Bridge, causing traffic to be temporarily suspended. Witnesses say the woman exited her vehicle, briefly looked back, and then jumped into the water.

A Good Samaritan boater nearby quickly intervened, pulling the unconscious woman into their vessel. The woman was then brought to the Solomons Island boat ramp, where EMS and first responders were waiting.

The patient is currently being transported to CalvertHealth Medical Center as a priority one case, with CPR in progress. Sheriff’s deputies moved the woman’s vehicle, which had been left on the bridge with the keys inside, allowing traffic to resume.

This is a developing story, and more details will be provided as they become available.
