Thaddeus “Brad” Lawrence Bratcher, 70, of Hughesville, MD, passed away on August 1, 2024. On June 10, 1954, Brad was born in Kinston, NC to Alfreddie Barnes and Hazel Bratcher.
Brad graduated from Adkin High School in 1972. In 1979 he relocated to Wingdale, NY, where he began his career in the mental health field. Over the years Brad worked at Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center and Wassaic Developmental Center. In 2012, after 33 years in the mental health field he eventually retired from Hudson River Psychiatric Center as a Mental Hygiene Therapy Aide in Poughkeepsie, NY. Brad enjoyed being able to help people.
Brad was blessed with three children, Aaron Bratcher-White of Charlotte, NC, Wanda Bratcher of Tampa, FL, Rhena Bratcher of Highland, NY, and step-children Terence Abbott of Glen Burnie, MD, Tiana Stith (Husband Kenneth Stith) of Hughesville, MD, and Tyiesha Smith (Partner Logan Miller) of Poughkeepsie, NY.
In his free time, Brad enjoyed traveling, spending time with family & friends, attending and watching sporting events, especially his beloved NY Knicks and Giants (although since residing in Maryland he became a fan of the Baltimore Ravens).
Brad was predeceased by his parents, brother Alfreddie “Duke” Barnes, grandmother Rhoda Bratcher who helped raise him, his Uncle Charles Ingram, and cousin Jim Murphy. He is survived by his beloved wife Terri Bratcher, children, stepchildren, and siblings Bernard Odom, Eric Odom (wife Lisa), Adrian “Apple” Hooper, Thomas Barnes, Mia Marine (husband Jamie), Tia Odom-Mills, 27 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his special cousins Michael (wife Tina)Thomas, Pamela Weedon and Patricia Ackerson, special sister Vinita Abbott, special son Sudesh “Smile”(wife Karen) Ruparelia, special daughter Donna Barden and best friend Larry “Pig” Kilpatrick and his Poughkeepsie, NY family.
Grandchildren: Marquis, Ariel, Kendall, Raquan, Darrius, Mahzi, LaSiez, Jayseon, Romaine, Breanna, Nevaeh, Elijah Nehemiah, Bishop, Emmanuel, Anastasia, Jahmir, Mahsilyn, Mason, Amauri, Preston, Donni Jr., Kayla, Arielle, Cameron, Izier and Isaiah, Great Grandchildren: Aniya, Layla, Jazelle, Jaynerio, Heavenly, Jaivanna, and Justice.
On Thursday, August 15, 2024, the family will receive friends for the visitation from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with the service beginning at 11:00 am at Brinsfield Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. Services will be officiated by Pastor Jacqueline White. Interment will be private. There will be no repass.
