NESMITH PLEADED GUILTY BACK IN JUNE TO COMMITTING CARJACKINGS AND ARMED ROBBERIES. PROSECUTORS SAY HE ADMITTED HIS INVOLVEMENT IN TWO CRIMINAL ENTERPRISES, ONE INVOLVING THE TRIPLE C VIOLENT STREET GANG, AND ANOTHER GROUP THAT LED TO AN OFF DUTY POLICE OFFICER GETTING CRITICALLY INJURED. AND THE MURDERS OF TWO OTHER MEN. THEIR VICTIMS WERE INNOCENT, SIMPLY GOING ABOUT THEIR LIVES IN THE CITY AND ATTACKED WITHOUT PROVOCATION. NESMITH AND HIS COCONSPIRATORS SAW THEM NOT AS PEOPLE, BUT AS TARGETS OF OPPORTUNITY TO FURTHER A CALLOUS CRIMINAL LIFESTYLE. NESMITH ADMITTED TO PARTICIPATING IN SEVERAL SHOOTINGS. BOYCE, 11 BE CUT BY DEAD MAN. DEVIN CHAVIS WAS SHOT MULTIPLE TIMES IN JULY 2019. INVESTIGATORS SAY HE WAS THE VICTIM OF AN ARMED ROBBERY. THE BALTIMORE BARBER HAD A GROWING BUSINESS WITH HUNDREDS OF CLIENTS. DAYS AFTER THAT SHOOTING, 48 YEAR OLD KENDRICK SHARP AND, ARMY VETERAN AND FATHER OF FIVE, WAS SHOT AND KILLED DURING AN ATTEMPTED ROBBERY. AND THEN ON AUGUST 8TH, 2019. BALTIMORE CITY POLICE SERGEANT ISAAC CARRINGTON WAS SHOT. POLICE SAY HE WAS ON HIS PORCH TALKING TO A NEIGHBOR WHEN A MAN WEARING A MASK GOT OUT OF A CAR AND ANNOUNCED A ROBBERY. CARRINGTON RAN THE GUNMAN, CHASED AND SHOT HIM MULTIPLE TIMES. THE POLICE SERGEANT IS IN REHAB, RECOVERING. POLICE SAY WITHOUT HELP FROM THEIR FEDERAL AND STATE PARTNERS, WE WOULD PROBABLY BE CHASING DOWN LEADS, TRYING TO APPREHEND THE CRIMINALS. THE YOUNG AGE OF NESMITH IS NOT LOST ON THE U.S. ATTORNEY. A man will spend 40 years in federal prison for his role in violent carjackings, killings and attempted murders in Baltimore. Rashaud Nesmith, 21, received his sentence Monday under a plea agreement. The prison time is to be followed by by five years of supervised release.”We will not tolerate violence in our neighborhoods. We will not be held captive by violent criminals. We will protect our city,” said Erek Barron, U.S. Attorney for Maryland.In June, Nesmith pleaded guilty in federal court to committing carjackings and armed robberies.Nesmith’s family was in court for the sentencing. While talking about his client’s actions, Nesmith’s attorney, Chris Nieto, said, “We have no excuse. We don’t seek to provide one.”Prosecutors said admitted his involvement in two criminal enterprises one involving a violent street gang, known as “Cruddy, Conniving Crutballs” or Triple C, and another group that led to an off-duty police officer getting critically injured and the killings of two other men.”Their victims were innocent, simply going about their lives in the city and attacked without provocation. Nesmith and his co-conspirators saw them not as people, but as targets of opportunity to further a callous criminal lifestyle,” said Toni Crosby, special agent in charge of the Baltimore Field Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.Nesmith admitted to participating in several shootings, including that of Devon Chavis, who was shot multiple times in July 2019 and died several hours later. Investigators said Chavis was the victim of an armed robbery. Chavis was a Baltimore barber who had a growing business with hundreds of clients.Days after Chavis’ shooting, Kendrick Sharpe, 48-year-old Army veteran and father of a five, was fatally shot during an attempted robbery.On Aug. 8, 2019, Baltimore police Sgt.
