Arcane Fights Its Way to Blu-Ray in October

With Arcane set to come back for season two in a few months, you may be thinking to yourself: “I should rewatch season one!” It’d be easy to just hop over to Netflix and binge the whole thing closer to the new season (or even just right now), but if you’ve ever thought about owning the show, GKIDS has got your back.

Come October 8, the entire first season of Arcane will release in four different Blu-Ray editions. The regular Blu-Ray will come with bonus features and original artwork, and there’ll be another version with a Vi-themed steelbook. For the 4K version, that comes with a Jinx steelbook (which costs a few dollars extra), and the $150 Collector’s Edition (releasing on October 22) includes resin dice, a fabric version of Cait’s map of Piltover, and art cards drawn by Jinx when she was lil’ Powder. The premium edition will seemingly have a limited run behind it, so best to get on it while you can.

GKIDS acquired Arcane’s distribution rights back in June. It’s a pretty good get for the hit show, both because it helps it spread to audiences without Netflix, but also because it keeps it alive. Netflix shows don’t always get home releases, and in an age where anything could theoretically get deleted from a streamer at any time, Blu-Rays are more than welcome. Now here’s hoping we get an art book for the series soon, too.

After Arcane’s first season comes home in October, season two drops in November. It’ll mark the end of Vi and Jinx’s story, but Riot has already said it’s got ideas for oher shows cooking up–they just may not involve Fortiche, which has the upcoming animated flick Penelope of Sparta on deck, and hopes to tackle an adaptation of the hit manga Vagabond sometime later.
