HUGHESVILLE, Md. – On June 22, 2024, at approximately 12:04 p.m., emergency responders were dispatched to a severe motor vehicle accident on Leonardtown Road near Wolf Drive.
Upon arrival, emergency crews found a rear-end collision, with one of the vehicles overturned in a field. EMS evaluated three patients at the scene. Due to the severity of their injuries, a MEDEVAC was requested for two of the patients.
Firefighters established a landing zone at SMECO for U.S. Park Police helicopter Eagle 2. Two patients were then airlifted to UM Capital Region Medical Center for immediate medical attention. The third patient was transported to UM Charles Regional Medical Center.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
