PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – Mark Roosevelt Fields, 39, of Prince Frederick, has been arrested on multiple charges following a disturbing incident involving animal cruelty. According to court documents, on May 29, 2024, Fields allegedly entered a property on Adelina Road and stabbed a dog, causing severe injuries that ultimately led to the dog’s euthanization due to the extent of its injuries.

The charges filed against Mark Fields include animal cruelty, aggravated animal cruelty, and dangerous weapon concealment.

According to officials, Animal Control Officer King was dispatched to the scene and reported that Fields arrived at the residence with a knife and inflicted fatal injuries on the dog. Witnesses reportedly stated that Fields was seen calling for one of the residents and when the resident’s wife came out, Fields then proceeded to stab the dog. The dog was then taken to a veterinary clinic, where it was determined that its injuries were too severe to treat, leading to humane euthanasia.

Fields was arrested and taken into custody. During the bail review hearing held on June 3, 2024, presided over by Judge Robert B. Riddle, Fields’ bail was set and subsequently held without bond. Court documents indicate that the initial appearance and subsequent hearings have been scheduled, with a trial date set for July 15, 2024.

Mark Fields remains in custody at the Calvert County Detention Center as the case proceeds through the judicial system.
