MM 6.6: Maryland football adds Oklahoma transfer kicker

Maryland football signed Oklahoma transfer kicker Gavin Marshall, head coach Mike Locksley announced Wednesday.

Marshall has three years of eligibility remaining after spending the last two seasons with the Sooners, although he saw limited action. Following a redshirt year in 2022, Marshall made both of his extra-point attempts and handled kickoff duties three times in 2023.

The 6-foot-1, 193-pound kicker was rated a five-star recruit by Kohl’s Professional Camps in 2022. Coming out of IMG Academy in Florida, Marshall also received offers from Florida State, Army, Air Force and Arizona State, according to 247Sports.

Redshirt junior Jack Howes was the Terps primary kicker last season, during which he made 13-of-19 field goal attempts and 46-of-47 extra-point attempts.
