Threads Rolls Out Mobile Analytics


Threads has launched analytics on mobile, which will make it easier to keep tabs on your performance in the app.

As you can see in these images, the new Threads mobile analytics are available via a dedicated chart button at the top right of your profile in the app (the button should be visible after you download the latest version of Threads).

Threads’ mobile analytics will provide insight into post views (by both followers and non-followers), likes, replies, re-posts and quotes of your Threads posts, audience demographics (location, age and gender), and more.

You can select a date range between 7 and 90 days for analysis.

The functionality is the same as Threads’ desktop analytics, which it launched back in August, so you’ve been able to access this same data for some time. But now, you’ll be able to check in at any time, which could become increasingly more important as more brands put increased focus on the app.

Threads is still seemingly gaining momentum, with the app steadily rising in the monthly download rankings. As per Meta’s last official report, Threads currently has 200 million monthly active users, but recent controversies at X, including its ban in Brazil, and its changes to blocking, may have pushed more people in the Threads direction of late.

It’s not quite a replica of what Twitter was, which is by design, given Meta’s intention to create a more positive and welcoming space. But right now, it’s probably the closest, though Bluesky has also been generating more traction in recent weeks.

But really, the platform with critical mass will win out, and right now, that’s Threads. Or X, which still has a lot more active users. Despite all of its controversies, X remains a key distributor for real time news and information, which Threads’ design choices, particularly in terms of its algorithm, effectively impede to some degree.

Yet, every time X makes a significant change to the app, more users consider their real-time social options.

I’m not sure that Threads will be able to replace what Twitter had been before the change to X, but it now has enough users to feel alive, and replicate at least some of that former tweet magic.

And if it continues to gain traction, it could become a bigger consideration for social media marketers.

Threads is rolling out mobile analytics on both iOS and Android from today.
