Louise Rogers (Mavronickolas), 66, of California, MD (formerly from Pennsauken, New Jersey), passed away peacefully on October 3, 2024.
She was born on February 4, 1958 in Camden, NJ to the late Louis George Mavronickolas and Grace Loretta Bailey.
Growing up in Pennsauken NJ, she was President of the Greek Club in high school, and later graduated from nursing school at the Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Soon after she married, in 1978, her husband of 46 years, Harry.
She worked as a child-birth education coordinator, a maternal child health nurse (special care nursery – NICU), and in 1981, received her Registered Nurse Certification (RNC) in Inpatient Obstetric Nursing. Later she worked for the state of Maryland with the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program, where she touched the heart and souls of so many families in need of support in the tri-county areas of Charles, Calvert, and St. Mary’s county. She later worked and retired as the acting coordinator of the Southern Maryland WIC program in 2011.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking big meals (Greek and Italian). She also loved her Greek (Ikarian) heritage, and took to the dance floor with her daughter, granddaughter, and loving family whenever the opportunity arose.
Louise is survived by her husband, Harry Rogers, from California, Maryland, and her daughter Stephanie Louise Gonzalez and husband Michael Gonzalez Jr, of Mechanicsville, MD; her grandchildren, Ava Louise Marie Gonzalez, Michael and Brooklyn Gonzalez III, and Courtney Michele Marie Gonzalez and Kurt Woodburn. Her great grandchildren include: Delilah Rose Gonzalez, and Chase Michael Woodburn.
She was Godmother to Jo-Lynn and James Fredericks, and had many nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends. She had great love for her aunts and uncles, her sister-in-laws Jo-Ann Fredericks and Carol Rogers, and her brother-in-laws Walter Fredericks and Louis Rogers.
In addition to her parents, Louise is preceded by her brother Jack Craddack.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 12th at 1:00 PM at Saint Aloysius Catholic Church, 22800 Washington Street, Leonardtown, MD, 20650. The Maryland Nurse Honor Guard will be present.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent in Louise’s name to St. Jude’s Hospital.
