LUSBY, Md. – On August 31, 2024, officers from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area of Chestnut Drive in Lusby, Maryland, after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a fight. Neighbors reported hearing a man shouting, “Someone is trying to kill me,” prompting the emergency response. Upon arrival, Corporal Bowlan and other deputies made contact with Rayshaun Marrik Kelley, who had been involved in a dispute with a family member.

Despite repeated loud outbursts, Kelley refused medical assistance or to provide any details about the altercation. As officers attempted to assess the situation, Kelley continued to make loud and disruptive statements. His behavior prompted concerns when a neighbor was seen entering his own house through a window, possibly attempting to avoid the escalating situation.

Kelley, who was visibly intoxicated, ignored the officers’ warnings and continued to shout, act disorderly, and cause a public disturbance. After multiple attempts to de-escalate the situation, deputies placed Kelley under arrest for disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and disturbing the peace.

Kelley was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, affray (engaging in a public fight), and public intoxication. All events occurred in Calvert County, Maryland.
